Preschool Snowmen Unit - M is for Monster Review

Crazy Snow - Cancelled Preschool

Last week, here in Northern Arizona, we got enough snow, that we had a full snow day.  Our yard doesn't look like much, but the next town over, where Little Miss Muffet goes to school, got buried!

We decided that it would be appropriate to do our Snowman Unit from M is for Monster (www.misformonster.com)!
Reading "Snowmen at Play"

Activities in "Snowmen at Play"
As we normally do, we started with our book.  This unit's book is called, "Snowmen at Play" by Caralyn Buehner.  Unfortunately, I didn't like the book this time.  It was a lot more hands-on than I had hoped, and a lot of the activities were beyond my little ones' ages!  So, we did a few of the activities, and set the book aside.

Snowball Cover Up

Little Jack Horner Matching Numbers

Snowball Cover Up was a fun activity for both kids!  Little Miss Muffet is really getting a handle on her numbers, which is good, as she starts Kindergarten this fall.  Little Jack Horner gets so excited, by the smallest victories, like recognizing numbers & matching them!  He's going to start Preschool next year (if we can get him potty-trained by August)!  The idea of this activity was to recognize & match the numbers!

Our "Snowmen Book" was another basic, fun activity.  We had a sheet of stickers, and the book had pages with numbers on it!  The kids counted snowmen as we put them into the book!

Counting Snowmen

Counting Snowmen was one of Little Miss Muffet's favorite activities this time.  Little Jack Horner really didn't catch on, so he wandered, instead of participating!

Creating Snow

Creating a Mess with Snow

Last, but certainly not least, we made snow!  The kit came with a packet of snow, as seen in Little Miss Muffet's bowl, but I had a can of snow that my mom gave me a couple of years back - and we just hadn't gotten around to using it!  So, both kids got to "make" snow, and play with the mess for a while!  We ended up throwing it back into a Ziplock bag, where the kids can play with it when they'd like!

                                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another successful unit from M is for Monster, Preschool in a Box!  The kids have really enjoyed doing these units, and I'll provide the final two reviews in the next week!  Winter is quickly slipping away from our area, so that will be the next one.  All About Me can be pretty multi-seasonal - so we'll hang on to that one for last!
If you're interested in buying any of these kits, I know they were on sale, so check them out at the following links.  The Snowman Theme, without the book, is $9.00 on sale:  https://misformonster.com/product/snowman-without-book-level-1/.  The Snowman Theme, with the book, is $13.50 on sale:  https://misformonster.com/product/snowman-with-book-level-1/.   I know they've begun to sell out of some of the units, so take a look!  I'm looking forward to seeing what comes in March, as we have plenty of February stuff happening right now!
